Haunted Halloween: Amanda Hocking

My Roommate, Buer:
The True Story of the Demon Who Moved In and Wouldn’t Leave
By: Amanda Hocking

Last January, I started writing a book about demons. Having never been much of a demonologist myself, I set about to do some research.

I ended up reading the Ars Goetia, which is a book the describing 72-demons and how to invoke them to do your bidding. I didn’t really want to invoke of them. I just wanted an accurate description of them for my book.

Shortly after I began reading the book, weird stuff started happening around my house.

Strange noises that couldn’t be explained, mostly knocking on walls and footsteps on the stairs. Things would be moved from where I left them last or disappear entirely. My dog would inexplicably growl at specific places in my room, even there was nothing there.

Suffice to say, it was all very Paranormal Activity at my house.

At first, it really freaked me out. I decided that I’d somehow accidentally summoned a demon or something, which did not make my roommate happy at all. Especially since the demon seemed to bug him more than me.

After a while, though ,the initial fear wore off. We’d expected it do something horrible and evil to us, but so far, it mostly knocks on our bedroom door or makes strange banging sounds.

So, after some research, I think this what our demon looks like:

His name is Buer, and from what I can tell, he can only roll around on those ridiculous legs, banging on stuff.

Sometimes Buer acts up more than other times, but most of the time I don’t care, unless I’m trying to sleep and he won’t stop hitting the ceiling above my head.

But from my experience, living with a demon is a lot less scary than Paranormal Activity made it out to be. It’s mostly just a nuisance.

Title: Hollowland

Synopsis: This is the way the world ends - not with a bang or a whimper, but with zombies breaking down the back door."

Nineteen-year-old Remy King is on a mission to get across the wasteland left of America, and nothing will stand in her way - not violent marauders, a spoiled rock star, or an army of flesh-eating zombies.

  3. The demon is seriously freaky. But I guess he wouldn't be a good demon if he didn't scare you with his very presence!

  4. What a funny story. Have you looked up how to send him back? That's what I would do if he got here just from reading about how to release them. It should be pretty easy to get rid of him.

  10. That would definitely freak me out, but I had to LOL when I saw the picture of your demon that rolls around knocking on stuff. That's great! Well, really annoying, but at least he's not a worse demon.

  13. Um, that's scary, yet surprisingly funny. I kind of pity poor Buer who can only roll around on his legs and bang things. As demons go, he doesn't sound too terrifying, which must be quite the disappointment for his demon mommy.

  17. I actually feel kinda sad for the poor demon. All the other demons probably mock him and his inability to do much of anything.

  18. A demon with 5 legs and no arms that can only roll around and make a nuisance of itself...not terrifying by any means, but I still wouldn't want him in my house! I can just imagin how my kitties would react!
